Just the other day I posted on LinkedIn about a story that popped up on my news feed that caused me to experience a rather intense case of déjà vu. The article, from The Washington Post, spoke to how transgender rights have emerged as a growing political “flash point.” As I read the headline, I could feel the knot in my stomach growing larger, and larger. It was happening — again!
The transgender community was being hauled out to be publicly flogged in the town square to the delight of those who seek to undermine, and yes, eradicate our right to equitable and fair treatment in all facets of our lives. In a global live event that aired on January 28th, the Human Rights Campaign released the results of the 2021 Corporate Equality Index and asked Stephanie to lend her voice to the proceedings to speak about how far the CEI has come with creating welcoming workplaces for transgender and non-binary employees, and reminding everyone that while a cause for celebration, there is still much more work to be done.
